Research of general properties of vehicles and trailers

The laboratory tests vehicles and trailers of various categories for compliance with international standards and UN Regulations regarding geometrical and weight parameters, visibility, microclimate and general safety requirements for passenger vehicles.

These tests are carried out using developed equipment complexes and programs for processing measurement results that meet the requirements of international standards.

General safety requirements for passenger vehicles

These requirements apply to passenger vehicles of categories M2 and M3, which include buses of urban, suburban and intercity types, for compliance with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of wheeled vehicles" (TR CU 018/2011) and international standards.

During the tests, the applied requirements are aimed at improving the safety and convenience of the passengers’ transportation.

An important part of the applicable requirements is to improve the accessibility and usability of vehicles for passengers with limited mobility and wheelchair users.

Comfort of habited compartments and climatic safety

To improve the comfort of using vehicles, as well as their climatic safety, laboratory specialists conduct the following types of tests:

  • certification tests for compliance with the requirements of TR CU 018/2011 in relation to ventilation, heating and air conditioning of the habited compartments of vehicles, windshield deicing and defogging systems, the efficiency of windshield wipers and windshield washers

  • control, research, development and other types of tests in relation to the thermal comfort of the habited compartments of vehicles using modern technical requirements and test methods of state and interstate standards in force in the field of ergonomics of the thermal environment

  • on assessment of the reliability, performance and general climatic safety of vehicles of various climatic modifications under the conditions of the limit operating temperatures of the external environment established by national standards and other regulatory documents, including when exposed to extreme external climatic factors

Research and testing to determine visibility, equipment with safety glazing, the location of vehicle control pedals, controls of vehicles, mopeds and motorcycles and their identification

To improve the safety of driving vehicles, laboratory specialists conduct the following types of tests:

  • certification tests regarding the approval of devices for indirect vision as separate components of vehicles (motor vehicles, tractors) for compliance with the requirements of international standards

  • certification tests regarding forward visibility, as well as view via devices for indirect vision of vehicles (motor vehicles, tractors), for compliance with the requirements of TR CU 018/2011 and international standards

  • certification tests regarding equipment of vehicles with safety glazing materials for compliance with the requirements of TR CU 018/2011 and international standards
