9. Specially paved test tracks

These tracks are intended for testing vehicles for vibration load, fatigue strength and reliability; The platform serves for tests on steerability and stability.

9.1 “Short waves” track

The track is designed to determine the effect of oscillations and vibrations caused by the impact of regularly spaced irregularities on the operation and reliability of various elements of the vehicle.

Dimensions:

  • track length - 1.0 km;

  • carriageway width - 5 m.

  • Regularly spaced bumps (“waves”):

  • height - 2.5 cm;

  • step - 0.76 m;

  • profile of "waves" - according to international standards;

  • on 3.5 m wide lane, the “waves” are located perpendicular to the track axis;

  • on 1.5 m wide lane they are located at an angle of 68° to the track axis.

Surface:

prefabricated from reinforced concrete slabs 2.27 m long, 3.49 m and 1.49 m wide, laid on a sandy leveling layer and fastened together by welding butt brackets.

9.2 Asphalt concrete track

The track (together with the adjacent round eastern test platform) is intended for testing stability and steerability, and to serve as a road that closes the circuit routes, including specially paved test tracks, when testing vehicles on these tracks.

Dimensions:

  • track length - 1.0 km;

  • carriageway width - 8 m.

9.3 "Belgian pavement"

The "Belgian pavement" consists of the main part with a set speed of 40 km/h, and two experimental sections (with threshold irregularities), with reduced speeds (30 and 20 km/h) and is intended for reliability and fatigue strength tests of the undercarriage components, bodies and cabins of the vehicles.

Dimensions:

  • track length - 1.0 km;

  • carriageway width - 4 m.

Surface:

Granite stone blocks pavement on a sand-cement base. Irregularities are formed by the difference in heights of the upper planes of adjacent stones (1.5 - 2.5) cm and oval-shaped recesses with a depth of (3 - 4) cm, arranged in an 80 m long series. The series are repeated in a certain order (turning by 180°).

9.4 Noise-producing track

The track is intended for testing to identify sources of noise produced during vehicle driving, and determining noise characteristics.

Dimensions:

  • track length - 0.75 km;

  • carriageway width - 5 m.

Surface:

Granite cobbled stone pavement, even paving, sand-cement base.

9.5 Profiled cobblestone track

The track is intended for testing trucks for vibration load and chassis strength.

Dimensions:

  • track length - 0.5 km;

  • track width (with borders) - 5 m.

9.6 Asphalt concrete track (2)

May be used as a closing road on specially paved test tracks.

Dimensions:

  • track length - 1.0 km;

  • carriageway width - 8 m; (on a length of 187.5 m, the carriageway width is 4 m).

9.7 Even cobblestone track

The track is intended for testing the vehicle for vibration loading.

Dimensions:

  • track length - 1.0 km;

  • track width (with borders) - 5 m.

Surface:

The pavement is made of cobblestone embedded in concrete. Stones protruding by (2 - 4) cm above the concrete surface cause high-frequency oscillations of the unsprung parts of the vehicle.

9.8 Basalt pavement section

The section is intended for testing vehicles of all types equipped with ABS.

Dimensions:

  • section length - 250 m;

  • the carriageway width at a length of 62.5 m - 9 m; at a length of 187.5 m - 5 m;

  • adhesion coefficients ɸ of vehicle tyres with track surface in wet and dry conditions are not more than 0.3.

  • Permissible transverse and longitudinal slopes are less than 1.5 mm per 4 m of length.

Surface:

The section is paved with basalt tiles 200x200x40 mm in size, laid in cement concrete.

9.9 Section with asphalt concrete pavement with high adhesion coefficient

The section is intended for testing vehicles of all types equipped with ABS.

Dimensions:

  • section length - 187 m;

  • carriageway width - 4 m;

  • adhesion coefficients of vehicle tyres with track surface in the wet state is ɸ < 0.55, in the dry state - ɸ > 0.70.

9.10 Section with asphalt concrete pavement with lower adhesion coefficient

The section is intended for testing vehicles of all types equipped with ABS.

Dimensions:

  • section length - 187 m;

  • carriageway width - 4 m;

  • adhesion coefficients of vehicle tyres with track surface in the wet state is ɸ < 0.60, in the dry state - ɸ > 0.70.

9.11 Section with asphalt concrete pavement

The section is intended for testing vehicles of all types for braking properties and adhesion of tyres with surface.

Dimensions:

  • section length - 250 m;

  • carriageway width - 5 m (9 m);

  • adhesion coefficients of vehicle tyres with track surface in the wet state is ɸ < 0.55, in the dry state - > ɸ 0.70.

9.12 Test platform for noise measurement

Test platform for noise measurement is designed to measure exterior noise of all types of vehicles and tyres.

Dimensions:

  • platform length - 50 m;

  • platform width - 20 m;

  • surface roughness - > 0.4 mm.

Surface:

Section with special asphalt concrete pavement.

9.13 Section for measuring tyres adhesion on the wet surface

The section is designed to measure the grip of vehicle tyres with a wet surface for compliance with the requirements of UN Regulation No. 117.

Dimensions:

  • section length - 66 m;

  • carriageway width - 4 m;

  • water layer height on the section surface - (0.5 - 1.5) mm.
