Research and tests of vehicles with regard to the environmental safety

Reducing harmful emissions from an ever-increasing car fleet is a vital aspect of maintaining public health and a clean environment.

Improving the fuel efficiency of vehicles is a significant indicator for reducing the cost of their operation and saving the planet's resources.

TS tests to assess the above properties are necessary and mandatory for obtaining TS type approvals and release into circulation.

The following is carried out during the tests on a bench:

  • control of the average level of emissions of exhaust gases after starting a cold engine

  • control of carbon monoxide emissions in idling mode

  • crankcase emissions control

  • determination of hydrocarbon emissions from the vehicle power supply system

  • monitoring the average level of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in exhaust emissions after starting a cold engine at low ambient temperatures

  • carrying out durability tests to check the durability of pollution control devices

  • checking the functioning of on-board diagnostic systems

  • measurements of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions

  • fuel flow measurement

  • measurement of energy consumption and range of electric vehicles

  • determination of the resistance to the forward movement of the vehicle on the road

Research and tests of the vehicles in road conditions

The following is carried out during the tests in road conditions:

  • control of emissions of harmful substances with exhaust gases during tests in real road conditions

  • control of the content of harmful substances in the air of inhabited compartments and vehicle cabins

  • control of fuel efficiency properties
